About the speaker: Jim Burns was first elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2012 to represent the east side of Greenville County, District 21. Mr. Burns, the director of development for Central Realty Holdings, earned degrees from Clemson University. He is actively involved in real estate industry and economic development groups.
Jim and his wife, Kathy, have three children. They are members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville. He has lived in Greenville since the age of 9 and attended Mauldin High School.
Prior to his Council term, he served on the Board of Zoning Appeals for both Greenville County and the City of Greenville. Jim graduated from Leadership Greenville with Class 28. He has been named one of Greenville’s Best and Brightest under 35 and one of Greenville’s Most Influential People. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Greenville United Way and the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, VisitGreenvilleSC.
Councilor Burns serves on the Finance Committee as Vice Chairman and the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee.
