The Diocese of Charleston’s Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry has announced another retreat opportunity for young adults in South Carolina. The theme of this Fall 2014 retreat is “The Art of Catholic Living,” and it will take place November 14-16 at the Diakonia Retreat Center in Salem, SC.
Taken from the retreat brochure:
“You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world” (Mt 5:13-14).
Since the time of Christ, these words have resounded in the hearts of mankind throughout the centuries. Within their text comes a boldness to ‘flavor’ and ‘illuminate’ the Way, the Truth and the Life through our everyday actions.
However, in today’s world, everyday struggles falsely appear to weaken the boldness we are capable of living in Jesus Christ. Perhaps it’s bleakness of society, the monotony of daily life, or prior life choices that have seemed to add to the feeling of unfulfillment in jobs, relationships and other worries. Whatever the cause may be, the only answer to truly fulfill our hearts and give meaning to life is found in Christ.
Join us in retreating for a weekend away, while learning of the beauty in the art of living by the truths and teachings of the Catholic Church with other young adults from across the Diocese of Charleston as we learn of the beauty and excellence in the art of Catholic living.to be the ‘salt and light’ that flavors and illuminates the world!
