St Joseph’s Catholic School – Spring Musical – Fiddler on the Roof
Tradition—is it a blessing or a curse? By honoring it, do we imperil our future? Or, do we abandon it and, in so doing, abandon a vital link with our past? Such is the dilemma faced by Tevye the milkman in the award-winning Fiddler on the Roof. As Tevye struggles to find husbands for his five daughters, they begin to trust their own notions of love above the judgment of the local matchmaker. Meanwhile, as their society disintegrates around them, the people of tiny Anatevka grapple with political and social forces that threaten all they hold dear. From the hopeful strains of “If I Were a Rich Man” to the pathos of “Sunrise, Sunset,” Fiddler transports us to a time, place and culture long gone, but one in which tradition—in the form of love, family, and God—is never far away. Join us as we celebrate 15 years of St. Joseph’s Fine Arts, and reconnect with our own rich traditions in the face of an ever-changing world.
