shoe boxesIt is challenging to imagine yourself in the shoes of an abused child. Especially difficult is imagining the emotions a child feels as they’re being processed through the legal system, therapy, exams, and more. Something as simple as a shoe box wrapped in wrapping paper can be transformed into a “comfort box” while children go to court to testify. Comfort boxes are filled with small toys/activities to include things such as, but not limited to: small stuffed animals, crayons, stickers, activity books, markers, note pads, play dough, cars, hair bows, silly putty, Nerf balls, barbies.

Abuse is much more common than you may think. A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, more than four children die every day as a result of child abuse.

Please take some time between now and December 16th to join us in supporting the Julie Valentine Center LVG Christmas Project by assembling a meaningful gift for a child. All donations can be dropped off at ANY LVG event, including our Christmas Party. Pick ups are available upon request – lvgreenville@gmail.com.
