St. Mary’s Catholic Church is presenting two wonderful educational opportunities and members of our ministry plan to attend! Please join us and we can sit together:
- Sunday, September 15th at 6:30pm: When the Lord Jesus was taken down from the Cross, his body was wrapped in a linen burial cloth called a shroud before it was placed in the tomb provided by Joseph of Arimathea just a few hundred feet from Calvary. For many centuries, millions of Christians have believed that the burial Shroud of the Lord Jesus was brought from the Holy Land to Europe during the Crusades and that this same shroud is now preserved in the cathedral church of Turin, Italy. On 15 September, one of the leading American experts on the holy Shroud will speak at St. Mary’s at 6.30 pm in Gallivan Hall. All are welcome to join us and bring a friend to learn more about the history of this extraordinary artifact.
- Thursdays (beginning October 3) from 6:30-8pm: Program of Catholic Studies with TJ Neilsen. The overarching theme for this year’s Program of Catholic Studies is worldview. All men view the world and judge truth through particular lenses (often unconsciously) that have been forged and refined through the centuries. Only through understanding and engaging one’s worldview can we begin the work of the New Evangelization and reintroduce man and the culture to the saving work of Jesus Christ.
